This is part of the ItalianCar.net archive - go to ItalianCar.net now NEWS ARCHIVE Alfa GT JTS launches at Melbourne Motor Show
The Alfa Romeo GT JTS will make its debut at the Melbourne Motor Show on 3 March 2005. "The Alfa Romeo GT JTS is a truly surprising car," says Kevin Wall, General Manager for Alfa Romeo in Australia. "On one hand there are the million dollar looks, the plush interior and the list of standard equipment as long as your arm, but if a customer was to offer a million dollars, we would be forced to return $935,050 because at $64,950 the Alfa Romeo GT JTS has the million dollar looks without the million dollar price tag!" As with the 3.2 litre V6 version, which was on sale in Australia before Europe, this market was one of the first to get the Alfa GT with the combination of the JTS engine and the Selespeed gearbox, thanks to the fact that 80 per cent of Alfa Romeos sold in Australia are equipped with the sequential manual gearbox derived from Ferrari F1 technology. The 2.0 litre 121 kW engine is the same lean burn, direct petrol injection engine seen in the Alfa Romeo 156 and like that car, this powerful, light weight unit provides the GT with strong performance without sacrificing economy and low emissions. Top speed with the JTS engine is 216 kmh and 0-100 kmh is 8.7 seconds (and to a kilometre in 29.2 seconds). In the European combined fuel consumption test it achieves 6.8 litres per 100 km - a pretty low figure for a performance car. Pricing on the GT is GT JTS 2.0 litre 121 kW Selespeed $64,950 For more information and a complete specification on the new GT see the updated FACTfile here. If you are going to the Melbourne Motor Show you will also see Alfa 147 Alfa 147 GTA Alfa 156 Alfa 156 Sportwagon Alfa 166 and you'll have to wait until next year (mid 2006) to see the Alfa Brera
Alfa Romeo is attacking the options list for the Alfa 147 five door, saving buyers of the award-winning hatch up to $6,000 if they tick every box when ordering their new car. "The Alfa Romeo 147 may be one of the best equipped cars in its class, but there are a few choice items on the options list and we've decided to make them as easy to own as the Alfa 147 as a whole," says Kevin Wall, General Manager for Alfa Romeo in Australia. "All too often car makers will make a special offer on the car, but forget about the options list, which means a customer can start with a good deal, but by the time they've got the car they want, the price at the bottom of the invoice is not what they expected. That's why we have taken the sharp pencil to the 147 five door's options list." If the option of the F1-derived Selespeed gearbox
is chosen, the saving is $2,000, while the choice of a full handcrafted
Momo leather interior is now available for just $500 instead of the normal
$2,500. The factory fitted electric sun roof now costs just $250 and the
style of metallic paint now costs just $50.
