Galleria Ferrari hosts Ferrari F1 Photo Exhibition
The Galleria Ferrari, Ferrari’s museum in its home town of Maranello, has launched a unique exhibition by photographer Michel Comte, dedicated to Scuderia Ferrari and Michael Schumacher entitled “The Face of Pace” which conveys the “face” of speed, with each picture expressing the enthusiasm and passion of Ferrari.
To create this unique reportage Comte followed races all over Europe for over 15 years. The exhibition includes images which capture the essence of Formula 1’s activities, the racing cars, the fans’ passion, Jean Todt, engineers and mechanics – focusing intently on their specific tasks as well as in their sense of anticipation during a race. Also on display are some intense portraits of the man himself, seven times World Champion, Michael Schumacher.
Comte’s black & white and colour photos capture the dynamic energy in a motionless image which visualizes “the face of pace”.
In order to present the high-tech materials used in Formula 1 more effectively, Michel Comte – and the specialists at Tricolor Laboratories in Zurich – printed the images using the new ”Dura-Clear” process by which large format negatives are digitally transferred to transparent clear-film.
To accompany the photos, the Galleria is also showing Schumacher’s original racing overalls, helmet and his 2002 World Champion F1 car. The exhibition catalogue, available in Italian and English, will be on sale at the Galleria bookstore.
Michel Comte, born in Zurich in 1953, is one of the masters of his profession. Internationally acclaimed due to his international advertising campaigns as well as his work as a fashion and celebrity photographer, he has also in recent years increasingly devoted himself to feature photography.
These works are not exclusive to the field of cars and motor racing but also shot on behalf of the Red Cross in the war- and crisis-torn regions of Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia.
The Galleria Ferrari is located near the Ferrari factory and the Fiorano test track and is open every day, holidays included 9:30am - 6:00pm.
